Pioneer Dj turn of a new era

So rumours started to fly in the past week that the Pioneer corporation was selling off its Pioneer Dj division, for a couple of days this was thought to be a hoax , but it seems the ink has been put to the paper and Pioneer is selling off its “Pioneer Dj” section to investment equity company KKR for a cool  $551 million US dollars, while Pioneer corp. shares are sold they still will maintain 15% of shares and voting rights equivalent in the exchange of the brand naming being kept “Pioneer Dj”.

A lot of  “Pioneer Dj” loyalists have been questioning if this was due to ill profits and if this will affect the quality build of the products that pioneer has built their reputation on, well the main reason Pioneer corp is selling off their American based division is ultimately to focus on the car sound and navigation development , even though the division was turning a profit in falling in line with their restructure plan after closing off their television development division Pioneer corp want to focus resources into one sector and metioned that holding onto a profitable division such as “Pioneer Dj” would pull them away from their vision of becoming a leader in the Car Sound & navigation system sector.

So what does this mean for the “Pioneer Dj” brand products, well it could mean much further funding from the new investors to boost the development of their Dj products , even though they are the workhorse of the industry now eventually technology and rapid product development from other competitive companies could see them being obsolete , hell Pioneer themselves were one of the catalysts that led the Technics SL1200 (a workhorse turntable) to become obsolete and see the turntable’s discontinuation due to the rapid development of Pioneer's CDJ range, so its only logical to get  the right money behind the next generation of DJ media player technology, being that the company is already structured and they keep their current development & engineering team we only can expect a  range of some serious surprise developments in the Dj products industry , on the other side of the flip coin the new owners could pull the “cutting costs act” and change their production values and principles to suit their profit margin and in turn could hurt the quality reputation that Pioneer has built in the past two decades , this only time will tell.
